There are two kinds of post-theatrical victory laps: the premium at-home release that lets you revisit the spectacle on your schedule, and the theatrical encore that invites you back for more. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is lining up both.

The Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink-led blockbuster hits premium video on demand this week, as plans have emerged to re-release the film in theaters with footage cut from the original movie.

Box office run

Released by Columbia Pictures on July 31, Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered a record-setting $360.1 million domestic opening weekend across 4,487 North American theaters, topping Avengers: Endgame, which debuted at $357.1 million in 2019.

The film then passed $1 billion worldwide in its first six days and surpassed $2 billion globally within eleven days.

Theatrical re-release plans

Plans have emerged to bring the movie back to theaters with extra footage that did not make the original cut. The additional material is expected to include Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
